Somawansa Amarasinghe passes away

Well-known political figure of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna had passed away this morning. At the time of his death he was in his 73rd year and had been involved as the 4th revolutionary leader of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna. The efforts he launched in uplifting Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna which by then had been subjected to dishonour

because of human carnage has indeed earned appreciation in the political field around the world.

During the last stages he abandoned himself from that Party and had been involved in giving his support to ideologies of the United Opposition headed by former President. He passed away today in his home in Rajagiriya. Funeral arrangements are to be notified later.
