Maithri's story of non consumption of meet misinterpreted by translator

It is reported that a  mistake had been made on a speech made by President Maithripala Sirisena the

other day by the translator when it was translated to Tamil.

What the President had said at a ceremony was that 'gavaya' , Ox  is respected religiously by Hindus and he will stop slaughter of cattle.He had emphasised that even if Ox meat is imported by investing money whether it is here or abroad slaughter is a sin.

The translator had misinterpreted saying that he abstains from eating beef. Listening to it the President had said that not only beef but he does not consume any type of meat. The President had requested the translator to clarify it which he done then and there.
