Child given methyl salicylate instead of paracetamol
A two years three month old child who was treated at the Horawpathana Kapugollewa hospital the lady doctor had been ordered to be given paracetamol syrup. But unfortunately the child
had been given instead a drug similar in colour methyl salicylate which is usually prescribed for patients who have bruises on the body.
After this medicine was given the condition of the child had worsened further and is now been treated at the Anuradhpura Teaching hospital.
For the wrong medicine that was administered the Police is conducting inquiries.
