Kotakethana case could be recalled again - Police media spokesman
At a media conference held after the accused in the double murder case of Premawathie and Pushpakumari were
acquitted by courts. The media spokesman of the police Assistant Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekera had said that the Attorney General could make an appeal against the verdict of the courts.
This could be made only if there is sufficient evidence is available against the suspects. In a case of this magnitude it is always possible that the evidences of the police who filed action would not be sufficient to overrule the DNA reports he had said. The DNA reports are those had been in favour of the suspects for them to be acquitted.
The DNA reports have revealed that a person involved in the double murder had not been arrested along with the other suspects.
The latest reports from Kotakethana reveal that the tensed situation that prevailed earlier had defused to a large extent. But the area has been deployed with the special task police personnel for protection is reported.
