Once more a milk packet to every student
The minister of education has suggested commencing once more the programme initiated during the Premadasa
era to provide a milk packet or a glass of milk to every student. This procedure had been dwindling over the years.
Accordingly 150 mili litres of milk is to supplied to every student by this government. The Milco Company has agreed to supply this quantity of milk at a special price of only rupees twenty.
The Minister of education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had obtained the approval of the ministry for this project and would be soon implemented it is reported. In this regard the emphasis has been laid to promote the dairy farming and to encourage them in dairy farming. Emphasis would also be laid on increasing the use of local native food as a part of this proposed huge programme.
