Derana was invaded as the news Director abstained from answering to the phone - Sirasa

Today (24th) evening some Sirasa media net work personnel had invaded Derana premises

withot any prior notice as the news Director ,Shehan Baranage had abstained from answering to a number of telephone calls made to him in regard to a wrong information telecast repeatedly by Derana on the land dispute at Echelon square. Numerous telephone calls made were of no avail and proved futile.This had caused a very tensed situation to erupt within the Derana television premises.

The purpose of the visit was to meet the news Director to make Derana telivision of the blunder they had made in telecasting the hoax news that the plot of land 65 perches in extent infront of the World Trade Centre along Echelon square did not belong to the Capital Maharaja Organisation.The priority for them  in their visit was to have the incorrect information rectified.The tensed situation turned into a near hectic confrontation.The Sirasa net work media personnel were locked up and kept hostage and they had to be released  and the tension to be difused with the intervention of the Police.It is learnt that certain telivising equipment of the Sirasa News First crew had been damaged by the Derana staff.
