Complaint lodged against Chairman Lanka Hospitals Pvt Ltd 'Gota' for misappropriation of funds
The management of the then 'Apollo' hospital was taken over by a new director board of the same
hospital with change of name to 'Lanka Hospitals Pvt Ltd and former defense secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was appointed the Chairman of the new director board.
After the formation of the new government a complaint against Gotabhaya Rajapaksa for misappropriation of a large sum of money from the Lanka Hospital was lodged by the Consultant cancer Surgeon, Dr Neomal for all Harischandra Perera to the Police Financial Fraud investigation Unit for the alledged misconduct by the then defense secreatary which is now being investigated.
The Consultant Surgeon Neomal Perera has in his complaint had elaborated the manner how these misappropriations were manipulated deviating from the laid down procedures and adhering to malpractices.A total sum of approximately rupees 600 million has been misappropriated in this manner.He had also quoted in his complaint that from the funds of the Lanka Hospitals two houses also had been purchased also by not adhering to normal accounting practices.
Consultant Surgeon Dr Neomal Perera had further stated some facts in the complaint made stressing on the establisment of the LHD laboratory during the tenure of the former defense secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksaas the new Chairman of Lanka Hospitals Pvt Ltd.
