Wele Suda who was a kingpin in the narcotics business, it is reported had given money to MP Duminda Silva as found from investigations conducted so far; Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana exposed at a special media briefing held this evening. The Police Spokesman also said that as a result, a court order has been issued that all accounts belonging to Duminda Silva be subjected to inquiry.
Mr. Ajith Rohana further said that therefore all accounts maintained by Duminda Silva at finance companies would be scrutinized. Apart from this, Police Spokesman also mentioned that the court order has been extended to preventing Duminda Silva from leaving the island.
According to results of interrogation conducted so far, it is revealed that Wele Suda has made a monthly payment of Rs. 25 lakhs to a certain politician in Colombo as revealed in the media recently and though he had told it was with a politician in Colombo District that he maintained his association, he had not confessed that the politician was Duminda Silva.
This information was found after Wele Suda was accosted in Pakistan and after being brought to the island was detained under detention regulations and was being interrogated. After a result of this interrogation, Police Spokesman Senior Police Superintendent Mr. Ajith Rohana had mentioned at a media discussion on 22nd of this month that he had transacted cash as well as lands and property with a member of parliament in Colombo District, a former IGP, 2 Sub-Inspectors and a Sergeant. It was said that statements have been recorded from 6 individuals who are supposed to have maintained an alliance with him and that information has been revealed in connection with these individuals. Mr. Ajith Rohana said that at present one Sub-Inspector and the Sergeant is not in service with the Police. He said further that investigations would be followed up about the statements given and after confirmation, the relevant individuals would be taken into custody.
