When the candidates were leaving after handing over their nomination papers at the Election Secretariat office this afternoon and when the President was leaving, he
happened to approach the former General Secretary Maithreepala Sirisena, the Common Candidate who in fact was closely knit to him; stood in front of him and Mahinda had a smile on his face too and then bade goodbye to him. On this occasion saying Ayubowan the President moved across to him and had patted him on his back.
Together with Maithreepala, Minister Nimal Siripala too shook hands.
