Operation to catch Hambantota 'Geta Kimbula'

Hambantota 'Geta Kimbula' ....  caught in midnight (photos)

Because of the drastic dry weather seen these days in Hambantota, with tanks and streams etc, going dry, one could see aquatic animals found there had presently started coming towards land.

A large 'geta kimbula' which was found in a canal near a house in Medilla area, Ambalantota during night-time recently had been trapped by the people in the area and handed over to Wild Life officers.

This crocodile was about 12 feet in length and the animal had come over to the land because the Medilla Wewa had gone dry.

The 'geta kimbula' which was caught with the co-operation of the neighbours was released to Bundala National Park by the Wild Life officers that same night.
