Accident in Batticaloa

One dead .... 23 casualties in Batticaloa cab-van accident  Dog also dead

One person  died and 23 casualties were reported in a vehicular accident that took place early this morning in Batticaloa along Kalmunai main road.

This accident was the result of a van and cab vehicle colliding face-to-face.


Fifteen persons travelling in the van and 9 persons in the cab were admitted to Batticaloa Hospital. The driver had died on the spot.

During the accident, a dog too which was closeby died as a result. The deceased driver is a 40 year old person from Pudukudirippu area, Batticaloa.

Kanthankudi Police are conducting further inquiries in this matter.
