Nipuni speaks about her half-naked issue

Newspapers reported that I like to be semi-nude ....
Problem for my job also

New film-star Nipuni Wilson addressed Gossip Lanka and told that a fresh problem has now emerged even in relation to her vocation because a certain weekend newspaper had published a statement of a letter she had replied to expressing her desire to act semi-nude.

Nipuni who presently acts the role of Tania in the film 'Ranja' which is being screened these days says that several
newspaper interviews were published  where she has had to face this conflict in one of those which reported something which she has not said and also that web sites have once again distorted those matters, thus confusing matters further. She also said that she came to Colombo from Dambulla and that she is a girl who was brought up according to Sri Lankan culture and because of this publicity, damage has been done to her reputation while it has even gone to the extent of creating problems for her status as Presenter at Hiru channel to which she is attached.

The statement which she made to us is as follows: "Web sits have publicized a story that I have liked to appear in the nude. hey have extracted some words from an article appearing in Mawbima Newspaper .... and have published a photo of mine .... with the wording 'I would like to be naked'.

Mawbima newspaper published a cover page of mine this week on Sunday. Whatever it is, after that in the article they repeatedly asked whether I'd like to act in the nude. That of course will never happen. I am someone who was brought up in Sri Lankan culture. Just because someone becomes an actress .... there may be those who do so. I said .... no. I said I was against it. Then I was asked whether I don't mind acting semi-nude. I act in 'Ranja' movie with Ranjan Aiya .... Tania's character. I am a main character in it. They said that semi-nude means wearing a pair of shorts and a skinny.

Usually, even when nothing is at the bottom and the top part is covered, it is semi-nude .... isn't it? If there's nothing at all .... it is nude.So .... how many people to explain what semi-nude is. I told them that it is true that I dress in a short attire. I dress that way from my small days .... it's true and that it's no problem. After saying so also they repeatedly asked 'that means you like semi-nude .... isn't it?'
Se .... they are repeatedly asking the same thing .... to get their word .... to market it. That is exactly what they did.

After that, in the web sites they have put this with the name of my school. Apart from that they have put the village also. My hometown is Dambulla .... I studied at Hillwood College. My job is Hiru TV Presenter. Now an inquiry has come up that such an article has been published in my name in the newspaper .... that it's not suitable as a TV Presenter. So it has come to a position where I'll lose my job also. Then I went and spoke to the CEO and told that what I said was something like this and that they had misunderstood it and had publicized it inaccurately".
