Sleeping Nana wins the election

 in 6th position, winning election

A moment which became a humorous incident for most people at a political rally which was held during the PC election period was when the candidate from the UNP, Jayasiri Nanayakkara was caught dozing away when his name was called on the public stage.


When Ranjan Ramanayaka was shouting at the top of his voice, "Give your vote to Nanayakkara to bring victory to the UNP ....", Nanayakkara was napping. Later when Ranjan asked, "Nana .... are you sleeping?" he had suddenly woken up. Some of those who watched that scene and made their comments on web sites said that, "These days those who ask for the vote are sleepy guys like this!"

Whatever it is, people of Galle have voted for 'Nidimatha Nana' and managed to place him in the 6th position from UNP candidates in Galle District. The number of votes he received was 16950.

Nana and his family who expressed their special comments on this topic to Hiru TV said that they had dropped the idea that he would lose the election because of the 'nidimatha' story. However, they had further said that he won the election because such things they are surprised are not of importance to people of South.

Nana had given an excuse that since he was exhausted having participated in rallies at a stretch during those days, he felt sleepy.
