Deputy Principal of Kadawatha school .....
remanded for bursting student'sear drum
A Deputy Principal of a leading school in Kadawatha area was taken into police custody today (Jan 14) for having assaulted a grade 11 student. As a result of the assault the ear drum of the student had been burst.
The reason for this conflict had been an argument which had ensued between the student and the said Deputy Principal.
According to a complaint made by prefects of the school to the Deputy Principal today, the victim had not attended to a duty to clean a room assigned to him. The Deputy Principal had then gone to the class to inquire about the complaint when an argument had arisen between the two and the Deputy Principal had resorted to dealing a blow on the student's ear as a result of his provocation and anger.
After the assault the student had collapsed bleeding from the ear and was admitted to Ragama hospital. It is reported that on admission it was found that the student's ear had been damaged to an extent where it was beyond repair.
It was after that that action was taken to take the Deputy Principal into police custody.
