Four people faced serious injury as a result of an accident that occured this morning on 12th December in the early hours of the morning at Ibbankatuwa, Dambulla. When a lorry that was transporting rice from Polonnaruwa to Colombo had stopped on the way and was checking a technical fault, a lorry carrying sans had come from behind and knocked this vehicle, it was reported.
A driver of another vehicle who had come to inspect the technical fault and lend a helping hand of the lorry carrying rice was run over by this vehicle while the wheels had gone over his legs. Having thus received serious injuries, he was admitted to Dambulla hospital and both his legs had been amputated, Dambulla hospital sources said.
Four persons including drivers of lorries subjected to the accident had been admitted to Dambulla hospital with serious injuries for treatment, traffic police of Galewela are conducting further investigations about the incident.
