North Province Minister rejects National Flag

A North Province Minister says... he can't hoist Lion Flag

Minister P. Aiyngaranacian of the North Province has said that he rejects the National Flag of Sri Lanka. He has made this comment at a festival held in Mannar when he was taken to hoist the National Flag. On that occasion he has not hoisted the Lion Flag.

He has also said that he would no longer come forward to hoist this Flag at any festival to which he is invited. Instead he had said that he would hoist only the Provincial Flag.

He has further mentioned that this National Flag does not in any manner represent the Tamil community and that the Lion Flag with the sword is not suitable for the Tamil community
