MALAKA SILVA ASSAULTED AT ODEL CAR PARK - Updates 2

12 persons had come and asked "Are you Malaka?" and then attacked with bottles

          At the moment when the assault by a gang took place last Monday at the Odel car park, Malaka had been in the company of his girl friend.About 12 persons had come in a Monterro and had questioned whether he was Malaka and then dragged him and assaulted him with bottles and then tried to take him away in the vehicle. Malaka is supposed to have come back after escaping from them. Mervyn Silva explains the incident saying that later Minister Mervyn had come to the place where the incident happened and had hospitalised Malaka.

     He expressed this as follows:
                                                   "I was only waiting at home in a pair of shorts. Then my son called and said, 'thaththe ... I went to Odel to have some tea. She is going alone ... but even then I told ... don't take anyone ... it's not good for our government .... I advised her. My fault is that she went alone. These fellows have followed .... about 12of them had come. They had asked 'Are you Malaka?' As soon as he said 'Yes ... I am Malaka Silva", they had tried to drag him away and tried to put him in the vehicle. They had come in a black-coloured Monterro. My son had wrestled with them and had managed to free himself and come forward ... then they surrounded him and hit him with bottles. He has bruises and things like that. He said, 'thaththe .. don't get upset .... I'm going to Nawaloka like this in my vehicle'. I then came in a split second. He can't take the vehicle like that no ... I inspected everywhere ... there was no serious damage by god's grace. People who do things like this will get punishment from god. I am also trying to find out who these benevolent souls are .... those who do merit will turn into sinners. That's all."
