MALAKA SILVA ASSAULTED AT ODEL CAR PARK - Updates 1

Malaka Silva gets a beating at Odel car park

     As a result of an assault on Minister Mervyn Silva's son Malaka Silva by a gang who approached him, he is under treatment at the hospital.

    This incident had taken place at about 3 this afternoon at the car park at the well-known garment outlet of Odel in Town Hall. A gang who came in a Defender type of jeep had surrounded Malaka and had assaulted him. It is reported that a witness to the incident had called for help by phoning 119. Malaka had sustained injuries to his face and head because of the attack and it is reported that subsequently people in and around the place had got together and immediately despatched him to Nawaloka Hospital.

    He was admitted to the accident ward in the hospital. Later, a hospital spokesman had told the media that he has no serious injuries, but since there was a significant injury near his right eye, he is under treatment for that injury.

    Though the media arrived at the site of the car park and tried to make inquiries, heavy protection by the police was observed at the site if the incident.
