Private buses cannot be painted blue
The Private Bus Owners' Association has declared that they would be launching an islandwide protest against the decision of the government to have private buses painted in light blue so that it could facilitate identifying them. According to the gazette notification issued on January 31st, the CTB was to be painted in red, private buses in light blue and school buses in yellow.
It was mentioned therein that this decision was to take effect from last February 1st for unregistered vehicles and from January 1st for already registered vehicles.
The Private Bus Owners' Association retorted saying that they are not at all in agreement with this decision taken without any consultation with them and that therefore give no consent to this decision; further that the cost of painting would exceed one lakh of rupees and that this is a meaningless decision. And for these reasons they had said that a protest would be launched.
