GEETHA'S LIPSTICK PROBLEM WITH DEPUTY SPEAKER

It's difficult to do politics with a bunch of males!

An exchange of words had taken place between Organiser Geetha Kumarasingha and Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody over an issue of 'applying lipstick'. The incident had taken place at the SLFP meeting held in Galle yesterday.

At the meeting, Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody had said "Some ladies came to make house-to-house visits in Habaraduwa sometime back. I don't know any of those ladies. They came with on, just like lady Geetha". On hearing this 'lipstick talk, Mrs.Geetha Kumarasingha's face had turned red.

As soon as Chandima had finished his speech and was approaching Geetha, she had asked "Why did you say that?" to which Chandima had quipped "I tell what I want!"

When Geetha was making her speech, she had said "For females in this country to use lipstick, it's not necessary to get permission from the Hon. Speaker. He insults ladies. Why should Mr.Chandima worry when ladies apply lipstick? I am the only lady from the SLFP from Galle and Matara. We have to face insults because we do politics with a bunch of males!"

It is further reported that with this exchange of words the meeting has come to a close and the organisers who came into the midst of the media personnel is supposed to have remarked "Your duties are over now ... thank you ... now you can take the mikes and go!"
