Blood had pumped through the neck:

An unfortunate incident was reported the day before yesterday from Tissamaharamaya about the tragic death of a 17 year old student Bikkhu when a Deer had attacked him with a sharp horn which had pierced through the neck. The student Bikkhu, Ethilivewa Pemananda Thera was attached to the Pandagamuwa Diyabediya Raja Maha Viharaya in Lunugamwehera.
This incident had occurred when the student monk had gone to the Dharmagaveshi Pirivena to attend to ‘Daham’ studies at around 4 p.m. The deceased monk while attending to the classes had gone to answer a call of nature and while returning had seen the Deer who was a common figure in the pirivena premises area. As he was harmless, the monk had tried to push the Deer away by one horn of his to enable for the monk to go on his path. However, very unfortunately the usually harmless Deer had attacked the monk with one sharp horn. This had resulted in piercing the monk’s neck when he had simultaneously fallen wounded while blood had been pumping out from his neck area.
Immediately the monk had been taken to the Lunugamvehera hospital. The monk had succumbed to his injuries before admission to hospital, it was reported. It is also learnt from the ‘pirivena’ monks that Deer in herds come to the temple premises often in search of food. But it had never been heard that these Deer’s had never harmed anyone. Hence it was very unfortunate that this fate happened to this monk. At the post mortem it was revealed that the monk had died owing to deep injuries that had caused Sto the neck area of the monk which had been fatal owing to profuse bleeding.
The pictures of the Deer who was responsible for the tragic demise of the monk are shown below:
