These days according to Police intelligence services counterfeit currency notes are freely circulated in many parts of the country. The Police has warned the general public to be careful in dealing with currency notes in denominations of Rs 500/-, Rs 1000/-, Rs 2000/- and Rs 5000/-.The general public has been warned to take precautions.
It can be that one may receive a counterfeit note for some transaction and in the event the one who receives it and transacts another business and if it is found to be a counterfeit note, it is you who will be punished and apprehended. So everyone has to be very careful when dealing with notes of higher denominations during day to day financial transactions.
In the counterfeit notes there are no water marks. The edges that could be felt when touched are not felt in the counterfeit notes. The genuine note is much thinner than the counterfeit note. In addition the black strip is not found in the counterfeit note.
