“The couple was caught red handed to me and I sent my wife home”- Nayana’a husband says
The closest causes that had made the couple (aunt and her nephew) to commit suicide at Veyangoda have been reported now. Late Nayana’s husband had stated that:
“We have been married for 6 years. I heard from many sources that my wife was having a relationship with my nephew but I didn’t believe it at all. On the 28th of last month, I had to come home suddenly and I caught the couple red handed as they were found and seen naked on the bed. I didn’t know what to do. I hit both of them and chased my nephew away. I told my wife to go to her home in Galle.
My wife cried in shame and went home. Our child is going to the Montessori and since I find to do all the work alone, I asked my wife to come back. I took leave this week. I escorted our child to the Montessori and when I came back home, Nayana was missing. Then she called me and told me “Don’t look for me. I am going with Muditha…”
When I called Muditha’s place I found out that he has left leaving the three-wheeler with its owner. All I could do was to make a complaint in Gampaha Police station.
Today I heard that a couple had jumped to an oncoming train and committed suicide… I went to see the dead bodies and identified their bodies to be that of Muditha’s and my wife’s. I never thought that they will attempt to do such a thing. I am left alone in the world with my child…”
