AMBANWALA ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE FINALISED

The verdict of the Audit Officer Lalith Ambanwala’s case was given today at Kandy courts after 10 years:

Corrupt government officers and several businessmen who have thrown acid to an honest officer have been sentenced:
A case of acid attack on an honest government servant had been hearing in courts over a long period of time of about 10 years. Another government servant who had been engaged in fraudulent work connected to an irregular tender procedure deal had been caught and in order to take revenge he had attempted murder by throwing acid on the Audit Officer, attached to the Central Province educational office.
Audit Officer, Lalith Ambanwala was attacked in 2002. He has investigated and found fraudulence that has been carried out for a huge tender application at the Education Department in Central Province. He had revealed stealing and monitory fraudulence at the Education Department by the Education Director, Ananda Munaweera and the Head Accountant, Ananada Weerasinghe. Mohammad Riyaz, Mohamed Raazi, Husain Seiyadu, Mohammad Safi, Omar Lebbe Marikkar, Mohamed Nawar, M J, Mohomed Rifal, Isroom Raman, Mohomed Haniffa, and Mohomed Imtiaz were involved in the irregular business who has been involved in this tender transaction as businessmen. They have got together and planned this attack to get rid of their allegation brought to book.
This case has been heard over ten years from 2002 in Kandy Courts. The verdict was given today and the seven accused had been fined and sentenced for attacking the Audit Officer Lalith Ambanwala by the Magistrate Preeth Padman Soorasena.
Past Education Director, Ananda Munaweera and the Head Accountant, Ananada Weerasinghe had been sentenced for ten years with hard labor and they have been fined Rs 2 lacks each. Seven Muslim businessmen had been sentenced for 20 years and they have fined Rs2 lacks each.
Lalith Ambanwala’s face has been distorted after that incident and he is still facing uncomfortable situations due to that incident. After the incident he had been treated in overseas countries and had also undergone plastic surgery.
