All tuition classes have been banned one week before the examinations:
This is similar to the voters who are given a rest to refresh their minds before an election:
- Deputy Minister of Education
The Deputy Minister of Education yesterday made a statement in Parliament that one week before the G.C.E (ordinary level) G.C.E (advanced level) and the Grade 5 scholarship examinations tuition classes are to be banned for a period of one week before the commencement of the respective examinations. Why it was made so was explained in parliament by the Deputy Minister of Education.
He disclosed that similar to any election a period of two to three days are given for the voters to relax and refresh their minds before the election day for them to think to whom to cast the vote by clearing their minds, the stress they confronted during the election campaign. Similarly this decision was made for students to relax their minds before sitting for the respective examinations.
The manner he emphasised was as
“before the elections a few days are given for the voters in particular to relax their minds and to think for whom to vote. Similarly the students who are to sit for these examinations should also relax their minds by attending to ‘bodhi poojas’ and other religious activities for a week before they enter the examination halls to sit for the examination papers.”
