Android smart phone found in the possession of Sumitta thera arrested for helping the underworld to give protection in the temple:

The other day on the orders of the magistrate Ven.Migettuwatte Sumitta thera was ordered to be arrested for the offence of giving protection to criminals and providing them with arms at his temple premises. The Prison officers had been able to find a Android Smart phone hidden within himself when an intelligence unit had been sent with metal detectors to the Galle prison.
During the past week in order to screen all prisoners a crew from the Intelligence unit with metal detectors had been sent to various prisons to find whether the prisoners had in their possession any mobile phones with smart cards. In this exercise the Sumitta thera was found to possess a Android phone smart phone. This was found when the Intelligence unit checked wards B,C and D wards in the Galle prison.
It is reported that 43 more mobile phones were found during the raid. One other prisoner a LTTE cadre had also possessed a similar smart phone. He had been caught and arrested when he had come to attack the Galle’s Naval Base. It had been in his possession for a long period of time.
The phone that the Ven. Migettuwatte Sumitta thera possessed has had ‘skype’ facility to speak via the internet which cannot be detected by any outsider escaping even by the Intelligence unit. The investigations in regard to Ven.Sumitta thera are been conducted and it is learnt that his lawyers had claimed that false allegations and a conspiracy had been directed at him to make him feel embarrassed t to get him remanded by the neighbouring ‘Kassippu’ dealers.
However as a result of this event the higher Bikkhus of the Malwatte Chapter had forcibly withdrawn all facilities granted to him.It is now learnt that the thera had helped the underworld gangs to carry on illegal business using the modern technology he possesses.
