SLPL TEAM OWNERS TO WITHDRAW FROM THEIR FRANCHISES

Owners of SLPL teams make the T/20 tournament to be in real jeopardy:

An unpredictable situation has arisen with regard to the proposed SLPL T/20 premier league cricket tournament getting off the blocks owing to the reason that the owners of certain teams have decided to withdraw their franchises. It was originally scheduled for seven Indian companies to own seven teams in the SLPL proposed T/20 tournament scheduled to be started in August.
It is now reported that the owner of ‘Number one Sports Consulting Private Ltd’ of the ‘Kandurata’ Warriors team captained by Kumar Sangakkara wants to withdraw from been the owner. It is also reported that the owner of the ‘Negenahira’ Nagas team owned by ’Varun Beverages Company Lanka Private Ltd’ in India and the ‘Ruhunu’ Royals owner, ‘The Indian  ‘Pearl Overseas Limited’ have also opted to withdraw from their ownership. It is learnt that these withdrawals are because they had been influenced by the Indian Cricket Council. The television channels of India are not in favour of getting the total television rights as some foreign telecast companies are prepared to give coverage for the matches worldwide.
Earlier the Sri Lankan cricketers had refused to sign their contracts for some reason or other. This dispute was settled yesterday and they have all agreed to sign their contracts with the SLC.
However there had been a talk that those who came second in the bidding may be allowed to take the ownership of these teams. But it is not clear and certain yet.
Appended below is a schedule of dollars where the owners were willing to spend at the time they won the bids:
Wayamba ($5.02 million) - Wadhawan Holdings Private Limited
