KAMAL ADDARARACHCHI SPEAKS

The absconding so called popular actor had ‘compeered’ a musical concert on Saturday.
“Web sites without directly quoting my name, in order to make my identity clear had described some activities of my career”.

“I did go to that place raided by the Police on that day at Fife Road. I visited that place on a request made to see the plight of my friend”.

Last week it was reported that after cordoning off a brothel house, the owner, a popular actor Kamal Addararachchi is absconding. However in contrary Kamal Addararachchi had been a compeer of a musical concert held at St.Joseph’s College, Colombo where M.P Namal Rajapaksa had been the Chief Guest. Those who attended Dushyanth Weeraman’s ‘Dedunu Wage’ musical show would bear ample testimony to it.
Whether this information is true was questioned by the ‘Divaina’ newspaper. What Kamal had to say?
“Madak, madak" the work of enemies was his answer.
“I associate with a limited number of friends. When I realise if a friend is not a type of person to associate, I quietly drop him. Those whom I have dropped from friendship become enemies and try to sling mud at me to bring me disrepute. To sling mud like this has now become a fashion. It is a crime to sling mud at innocents is a crime”, he had added.

To the Lakbima paper, what he had expressed was:
“On the day of the incident a family friend of ours by name Priyantha called me. He told me that Police had come to his business establishment and for me to come and see what the reason is. When I received the call I was driving close to his business establishment. My wife too was in the car as we wanted to do some shopping as we were to attend an important function of a high official in the week end. My friend is known well to my wife also. Within two minutes we arrived at the business establishment of Priyantha.
On arrival I saw some Police officers and Police vehicles. I requested my wife to be in the car and went in .I asked the Police what is exactly the problem over here. The Police officers quipped; yes there is a problem here. There are some Taiwan women here without valid visas. They asked me why I came here. I told purely because this place belongs to a good friend of mine and I came on his request.
They told me about that there is matter in regard to the passports of the Thai women. I told them I was passing this way on my way to a private visit and I came here because a request was made to me by my friend. The Police told me that they had deployed a ‘spy’ and found that something was happening here. The Police officers requested me to take over the keys of the establishment since the owner was my friend. I refused to take over the keys. After keeping two Police officers, the Thai women were driven off in a Police vehicle. At this time my friend Priyantha arrived.
I told my friend that it may be that your employees may have done something irregular. I told you will have to face the consequences and be prepared to take appropriate steps.”
On the following day several web sites published this story in a fabricated manner involving me. 
” When I was present the Police had raided the place. My name was made known describing the feats I had achieved in the field of arts. They never published my name, but for anyone reading one without doubt would guess that it was me. I was not at all excited and did not go to speak about it with anyone.
When someone close inquired I conveyed the correct story and my stand in that regard. Anyone could understand what really had happened in contrary to what was stated in the web sites and in certain media. In websites it was stated that I was absconding and had run away.”

“I am now at home, why should I run away. Yesterday the 28th my wife Ruth too watched the show which I compeered.”
About the incident what Kamal’s wife Ruth had to say?

“She cannot think what really had happened ( Kamal was laughing).He started to curse at the culprits initially. She had realised cursing cannot clear the facts of the incident that was already made public. As Buddhists we have to be compassionate, let’s go to the temple.”
