TENSE SITUATION AT LAWYERS’ PROTEST

“These men charge us and still we waste our money”
When the lawyers of Aluthkade were on a protest for the lawyer who was beaten, the other clients have got impatient

The lawyers at Aluthkade Court complex were on a protest on behalf of the lawyer Sumith Silva who was beaten and harassed for being the defendant lawyer of the suspects in Kotte murder case of the monks. All the lawyers were on a protest stating that they would not work until the people who attacked lawyer Sumith Perera are taken into custody. Thus, many court cases that were to be heard today were cancelled.
They were requesting not to let the right of the lawyers to be present on a client be contempt and thus they want it to be investigated in order to protect the rights of the lawyers.
The protest was called off after DIG Anura Senanayake promised that the suspects will be arrested soon. However it was reported that the clients who have come from faraway places to get their work done had faced difficulties.
They have got impulsive and some of their dialogues are as below:
“These men have take money from us and still they waste our time…”
“They are living on us and when we come to get our work done they are on strike”
“How unfair is this?....What can we do by standing here?”
