CRICKETER RUCHIRA PERERA REMANDED

Ruchira Perera remanded:

A former Sri Lankan Test cricketer Ruchira Laksiri Perera was ordered by the Negombo Magistrate for been proved guilty of issuing a ‘dud’ cheque for a sum of Rs 14 ½ lacks for a textile transaction, when the case was heard for hearing yesterday following a complaint made against him.
Ruchira Laksiri Perera has represented Sri Lanka in 8 Test matches and 19 ‘one day internationals’. The last time he played for Sri Lanka was in the year 2007.
It is learnt that Ruchira Laksiri Perera had been engaged in a textile business with a friend and colleague, Lalith Shantha De Alwis. As the current account was operated jointly the Negombo Magistrate had ordered both to be remanded until the 2nd of April when the case would be heard once more.
