The wife of slain fisherman W.Niluka had been employed by a cleaning company. At the time she was informed of the fatal death of her husband she had been doing purifying work at a Abu Dhabi school. To return to Sri Lanka immediately she had to face several obstacles by the company where she had been employed. They have said that she had not completed even for one calendar month in her service and that: “they had spent a lot of money in getting her this job, hence we cannot allow her to leave ,only if Embassy authorities intervene only we could allow her to leave. She had been pushed and had locked her up in a room.”
The relatives had informed about the fatal death of her husband and had requested to return to Sri Lanka as soon as possible. The embassy M/s Samaraweera and Liyange from the Embassy had intervened by cross examining Niluka with her employer and had settled the issue amicably, allowing her to return to Sri Lanka in time for the funeral The staff of the Embassy had even collected sum equivalent to Rs 50,000/ and handed over to her to meet expenses for the funeral.
The wife of slain Anthony had thanked the embassy officials profusely and had confessed that she would not go back to her employer in Abu Dhabi as she has to look after the children.
