Australia’s lowest Test score in an innings for 109 years


The second days play in the First Test match between Australia and South Africa resumed at Newlands, Cape Town in South Africa yesterday. In the Australian 2nd Innings were bundled out for just 47 runs. At one stage they were reeling at 9 wickets down for just 21 runs. No top order batsmen reached double figures. The 10th wicket pair of Peter Siddle and Nathan Lyon batting at no 9 and 11 brought some respectability to their total with a last wicket stand of 26 runs. This score is the lowest Test score in an innings by Australia for 109 years. Their next lowest score was recorded in the year 1902.The scoreboard of the innings is appended below:
