44 passengers seriously injured and 96 passengers released after OPD treatment.
In the bus accident involved between too speeding buses which had collided head on had caused serious injuries to 44 and 96 passengers who had been injured with minor injuries were treated at the OPD and released.
The route of one bus was a Colombo bound Medirigiriya bus and the other was plying on a route from Kaduruwela to Colombo. The accident had occurred near the Gokarella “Ibbagamuwa Polgolla Pirivena”Both were both two doors speeding Leyland buses. When the collision took place one bus had overtaken a school van carrying children. At high speed had collided head on with the oncoming other Leyland bus. After the collision both buses had overturned. To take the injured out of within the trapped inside the wrecked two buses the Police and the neighbours had made a valiant effort and to send the injured to the hospital.
