KEROSINE OIL DANSELA TO COMMEMORATE 2600th SRI SAMBUDDHATVA JAYANTHI
Hitherto we have heard only of the traditional dansela’s given for Vesak Poya day which consisted of eatables like rice, noodles, string hoppers, gram and different types of fruit drinks. However deviating from these traditional dansela’s a kerosene oil dansela is reported from Redi Malliyadde area in Badulla. This kerosene dansela had been made possible by the sole courtesy of a Mudalali by the name of Tissa Hewawasam. He is popularly known as named by the villagers as ‘the reasonable Mudalali’. This virtuous meritorious deed had been done for the 6th consecutive year.
It is reported that the poor villagers, residents of Kuruvitenna area are devoid of electricity and the free kerosene donated at the dansela comes in very handy for them who are mostly in the group of very low income earners. It is also learnt that this Mudalali is willingly paying the electricity bills of many temples scattered in various Districts for quite some time
The photos below show the manner in which the kerosene oil was distributed.
