A report from Katunayake Airport states that a SriLankan Airlines flight, flying from Sydney to Katunayake, experienced a disturbance at midnight, resulting in damage to one of the aircraft's doors. The flight involved in this unexpected incident is SriLankan Airlines' UL 607.
Police information reveals that three passengers behaved in a highly intoxicated and unruly manner during this flight on the night of the 31st. The disturbance originated from an argument with flight attendants regarding the food served on the plane. As the argument escalated, these unruly passengers forcefully pushed a food and beverage trolley, which then collided with the aircraft door, causing the reported damage, according to the police.
The following day (01), after the aircraft landed at Katunayake Airport, the chief flight attendant officially lodged a complaint with the Katunayake Airport Police regarding the incident. Acting on this complaint, a team of airport police officers arrested the three unruly passengers at the airport.
According to the police, those arrested include two Indian nationals and one Indian national with British citizenship. They were part of this flight with the intention of traveling from Sydney to Delhi as transit passengers via Katunayake. However, due to their intoxicated behavior and property damage on the aircraft, their journey to Delhi has been temporarily halted by the Katunayake Airport Police.
