A complaint has been lodged with the Wellawatta Police that the official driver who left to pick up the Chairman of the State Paper Corporation has gone missing along with the Chairman's cab.

The driver in question left the corporation's head office on Stafford Road, Colombo 06, for the Chairman's residence in Kadawatha on the 21st, with the aim of bringing the Chairman to the office. However, as the vehicle did not arrive at the house at the scheduled time, the Chairman called the driver's phone to inquire about it, and the driver informed the Chairman that there was a fuel leak in the vehicle.

Subsequently, the Chairman instructed the driver to take the vehicle to a vehicle repair shop in Kadawatha, and the driver went to that location and had it inspected. However, police investigations revealed that the technicians there stated that there was no fault with the cab.

The driver had not returned to the office until 4:00 PM that day, and it is said that subsequent attempts to contact him by phone were unsuccessful as the phone was switched off. Mr. Saman Priyankara Fernando, the Transport Manager of the Paper Corporation, lodged the complaint with the Wellawatta Police regarding this disappearance.

The missing person is a 29-year-old driver residing in Kendaliyaddapaluwa, Ragama.

Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by a police team, including Sub-Inspector V. Ganewatta, OIC of the Various Complaints Division, under the instructions of Chief Inspector Mohan Silva, OIC of Wellawatta Police, by examining phone analysis reports and CCTV footage from several angles.
