Minor flood risk around the Mahaweli River

The Department of Irrigation announces that due to the significant heavy rainfall received in the upper catchment areas of the Mahaweli River during the past few hours, there is a risk of minor flooding in the associated low-lying areas.

The relevant authorities have warned that this could particularly cause minor flood impacts in the low-lying areas near the Mahaweli River, which belong to the Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Division.
