Ten MPs, including Sajith, who commented in Parliament alleging Salley's involvement in the Easter attack, to the CID.

The Attorney General's Department has granted approval to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record statements from ten opposition Members of Parliament, including Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, who commented in Parliament that former head of the State Intelligence Service, retired Major General Suresh Salley, had a connection to the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks. It is stated that since the statements made by the relevant MPs within Parliament are protected under parliamentary privileges, the recording of these statements must be entirely based on their voluntary consent and full cooperation.

Based on the premise that the Members of Parliament may possess reliable information or sources to substantiate these allegations, the Criminal Investigation Department has decided to inquire into what those facts are. Accordingly, as per the instructions given by Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, statements are to be recorded from these MPs after obtaining copies of the relevant statements from the parliamentary Hansard reports and analyzing them. Investigators are expected to explain to the MPs that this information is being obtained with the aim of assisting the investigations and that it is a voluntary process.

Meanwhile, the three-member bench of the Colombo High Court is ready to announce the verdict in the case against 24 defendants indicted in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks next Tuesday (22). Both the prosecution and the defense in the case, which was heard before this bench comprising High Court Judges Navaratne Marasinghe (Chairman), Sujeewa Nissanka, and Ramanathan Kannan, have concluded presenting their final written submissions amidst strict security arrangements at the Aluthkade MMC building.

Mr. Suresh Salley, who is in custody under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, has been receiving inpatient treatment at the Colombo National Hospital for nearly 100 days. Following a request made by Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara has ordered the Director of the Colombo National Hospital to appear before the court on September 22, due to the failure to submit a report indicating whether Mr. Suresh Salley's health condition still necessitates hospitalization.
