London girlfriend who killed her boyfriend and kept him in the apartment for 9 days

A trial has begun at London's Old Bailey court against a woman accused of stabbing and killing her boyfriend, who told her he had met another woman, and then hiding his body for nine days in the apartment where they lived together. The victim has been identified as Henrik Slothsa, a 52-year-old Danish bank official who worked at Citibank.

The woman accused of this crime is his girlfriend, 50-year-old Polish national Joanna Sierpka.

On March 15, police broke down the door of the apartment in South London after receiving an email from the accused woman hinting that she would commit suicide. When police officers entered the house, she was attempting to cut her throat with an eight-inch kitchen knife, and they managed to find Mr. Slothsa's decomposed body in a bedroom in the house. At that time, a dried layer of blood was also visible near the body.

Prosecutor Danny Robinson stated in court that there was no dispute that she had committed the murder of her boyfriend. Although the accused woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter based on her mental state, the prosecution has charged her with premeditated murder. It was further revealed in court that their relationship had been deteriorating for several months. Mr. Slothsa had become close with another employee he met at a corporate event in November 2025, and on Sierpka's birthday, he told her that he had met someone else at his workplace.

Friends of Sierpka, who previously worked in the marketing department of British American Tobacco, said she had been suffering from severe mental stress after losing her job. After killing Mr. Slothsa, she also sent WhatsApp messages from his mobile phone, falsely implying to his manager that he was unwell. Police also found several empty alcohol bottles inside the house, and the trial related to this incident is still ongoing.
