Caroline Jurie acquitted by the jury in the trial after the death of Chula, who removed Pushpika's crown.

The Colombo Magistrate's Court ordered the acquittal and discharge of Ms. Caroline Jurie and Ms. Chula Padmendra, who were accused of charges including the forceful removal of Ms. Pushpika De Silva's crown and assaulting her during the Mrs. Sri Lanka World 2021 grand finale held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.

This order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama after a lengthy trial. Announcing the verdict, the Magistrate pointed out that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges brought against the defendants beyond a reasonable doubt.

Furthermore, it was informed to the court that Ms. Chula Padmendra, who acted as a defendant in this case, has since passed away. 
Due to this disciplinary misconduct, Caroline Jurie also lost her Mrs. World crown from the previous year.

Caroline Jurie and Chula Padmendra were accused of forcibly removing the crown worn by Pushpika De Silva from her head during the Mrs. Sri Lanka World 2020 finale, causing minor injuries to her head, and engaging in criminal intimidation and coercion. The police had previously reported to the court that government property worth seven hundred thousand rupees was damaged in this incident.

Since the organizers of the Mrs. Sri Lanka World pageant have now compensated for the damage, the charge under the Public Property Act was withdrawn. The Kurunduwatta Police had filed charges of criminal intimidation against Caroline Jurie and Chula Padmendra, and the trial had been ongoing for 5 years.
