In response to the increase in wheat flour prices, the All Ceylon Bakery Owners' Association has decided to increase the price of a 450g loaf of bread by Rs. 10, effective from midnight today (31).
Addressing a special media briefing, the association's president, Mr. M. K. Jayawardena, stated that this price revision was necessitated by imported wheat flour companies increasing the price of a kilogram of wheat flour by Rs. 17, effective from yesterday (30).
In addition to increasing the price of bread, steps will be taken to revise the prices of other bakery products as appropriate, and the association has focused on ensuring that consumers are not unfairly affected.
