Update : මීගමු බන්ධනාගාරය පාලනයෙන් ගිලිහේ අදත් ගැටුම් නිසා මරණ 08 දක්වා ඉහළට

The number of people who died due to the unrest that took place today (06) within the Negombo Prison premises has now increased to 08. With this incident, the situation has worsened, and the number of people injured due to violent acts has reportedly risen to seventy.

According to hospital sources, among those who lost their lives are a jailer serving in the prison and two prison guards. It has also been confirmed that 5 inmates held there have died due to this clash.

Two of the deceased died yesterday.

The Sri Lanka Air Force had deployed a drone to observe the serious situation inside the prison, and a gunshot was fired from inside the prison targeting the drone. To quell the escalating unrest and bring the situation under control, an Air Force helicopter was also called into the airspace and seen participating in operations.
