The young man who sold drugs while operating a phone repair shop in Panadura was arrested.

A phone repair technician, who acted as the drug storekeeper for two powerful drug traffickers and organized criminals residing abroad, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on the 18th, along with a stock of 'ice' drug worth approximately 200 million rupees.




The amount of 'ice' drug taken into police custody from the 26-year-old suspect who was arrested is 18 kilograms and 718 grams. According to special information received by Police Constable (97479) Perera of the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department, a team of officers including the OIC of that unit, Police Inspector Manoj Gayantha, raided the relevant house and carried out this operation.

During a search conducted by opening a room located outside the main entrance of the house with the help of a bunch of keys found with the suspect, this stock of drugs, packed in two travel bags, was discovered. Investigations revealed that this stock was handed over to him by 'Kudu Salindu' and 'Panadura Randika', who operate large-scale drug trafficking from abroad, for distribution to urban and various areas of the island. The suspect also revealed during interrogation that a vehicle would arrive to deliver drug parcels according to the orders received.




Police say that this young man, a resident of Alubomulla, Arukkgoda, Rukgahathotupola area, has been carrying out this drug trafficking for some time under the guise of running a mobile phone accessories shop in the Panadura Hirana area. After the arrested suspect is produced before the Panadura Magistrate's Court, further investigations will be conducted after obtaining detention orders for interrogation.

Under the instructions of Police Inspector Manoj Gayantha, OIC of the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department, Police Inspector Vishwanath, Police Sergeant (68785) Chamara, Police Constables (97479) Perera, (37380) Hemachandra, (104557) Silva, (104572) Ranasinghe, (104586) Madusanka, (104597) Kumara, and Woman Police Constable (11353) are conducting further investigations into this matter.
