A special ambulance, previously reserved for the President's use, has been donated to further expand the emergency treatment and patient care services at the Mullaitivu District General Hospital. This step has been taken with the aim of making patient transport activities more systematic and robust within the local health sector.
This 'Nissan' type ambulance, which was reserved for the Head of State by the Presidential Secretariat, was previously assigned to the Presidential Security Division. However, as the vehicle was not actively used for official duties, the Presidential Secretariat took steps to transfer it to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, considering the existing needs of the country's public health service.
The official transfer of this vehicle took place on June 30th at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media premises, where the Presidential Secretariat officially handed over the ambulance to the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa. Subsequently, the Minister presented the vehicle to the Director of Mullaitivu District General Hospital, Dr. Nalin Premadasa, for use in the hospital's treatment services.
This official event was attended by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, Specialist Doctor Kumara Wickramasinghe, Deputy Director General of the Supplies Division, H.M.N. Dinipriya Herath, and Director of the Transport Division, Muditha Wimalasena, along with other high-ranking officials from the sector.
