A secret video trafficking operation conducted at a spa center in Bandarawela has been uncovered by a police raid. The police have taken steps to arrest a couple and others involved in a racket of secretly video recording clients' sexual activities and selling them online, after raiding a spa center operated in the Ellathota area of Bandarawela.




The main suspects identified as operating this racket are a 35-year-old man residing in the Welimada area and a 40-year-old woman residing in the Minuwangoda area.

Investigations have confirmed that the suspects video recorded clients' sexual activities using cleverly installed cameras in the rooms at the location, stored these recordings on mobile phones, and sold them to foreign entities for money.




This prostitution and video trafficking operation was carried out by charging between Rs. 4000 and Rs. 8000, depending on the woman chosen by the customers.

In addition to the suspect couple, four women aged between 18 and 40 residing in Ja-Ela, Minuwangoda, Matale, and Welimada areas, and another individual have been taken into police custody during the raid. The arrested suspects have been referred for medical examinations regarding sexually transmitted diseases, and their mobile phones are to be handed over to the Computer Crime Investigation Division for further investigations.



This raid was carried out by a police team including Chief Police Inspector Nishantha Gunathilaka, OIC of the Bandarawela Divisional Special Investigations Unit, under the instructions of Assistant Superintendent of Police Ruwan Fernando, Senior Superintendent of Police Mayura Perera, Deputy Inspector General Laksiri Wijeratne, and Senior Deputy Inspector General of Uva Province Mahesh Senaratne.

To make the raid successful, the police obtained the assistance of an undercover agent who disguised himself as a customer seeking services at the location.
