SB's brother Jayalath arrested for taking 27 million to issue bar licenses

Former Provincial Council member Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake, who is the brother of former Minister S.B. Dissanayake, has been arrested by the police in connection with a financial fraud charge.

It is reported that he was arrested on the incident of defrauding a person of Rs. 27,500,000 by promising to provide an excise license.

Following a complaint made by a resident of the Weeraketiya area regarding this financial fraud, the Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the Central Criminal Investigation Department had launched a special investigation. According to those investigations, officers acted and arrested the suspect former Provincial Council member yesterday (14) morning in the Hanguranketha area.

The arrested Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake is scheduled to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today (15). Meanwhile, the Central Criminal Investigation Department is conducting further investigations related to the incident.
