Rakitha got bail and went out, but Charith went back inside without money.

Although the court granted bail to Mr. Charith Abeysinghe, the former organizer of the Horana electorate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, who was arrested in connection with the incident of obtaining bribes amounting to millions of rupees from Nadun Chinthaka, also known as 'Harak Kata', the leader of an organized crime gang, he was remanded again due to his failure to fulfill the bail conditions on time.

On the afternoon of July 28, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama granted bail to the three suspects, Attorney Rakitha Rajapaksa, son of former Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Charith Abeysinghe, and Warushahennadige Aruna Sri Chathuranga, a former director of the Civil Aviation Authority, who were arrested and remanded by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

According to the court order, a cash bail of one hundred thousand rupees and two personal bails of 5 million rupees each were imposed on each suspect. It was also ordered that certificates confirming that the personal sureties possess a stable income or property commensurate with the value of the bail must be submitted, and the suspects' passports were taken into court custody, prohibiting them from traveling abroad.

Since the two suspects, Attorney Rakitha Rajapaksa and Aruna Sri Chathuranga, fulfilled the bail conditions stipulated by the court in open court, they were ordered to be released from prison custody. However, due to suspect Charith Abeysinghe's inability to fulfill his bail conditions on time, prison officials took him back to prison around 5:30 PM.

These suspects have been accused of soliciting a bribe of 500 million rupees from 'Harak Kata's' wife in Dubai in 2023, which was later reduced to 200 million rupees, and then receiving an advance of 120 million rupees, for facilitating services such as preventing 'Harak Kata', who was under detention orders with the Criminal Investigation Department, from being killed, removing his detention orders, and transferring him to a location other than Boossa High-Security Prison.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate has further ordered the Bribery Commission to submit the progress of the investigations related to this incident to the court on December 08.
