Information about Piliyandala shooting revealed

A lot more information has been revealed regarding the police shooting incident that took place today (19) on Weerasinghe Mawatha, Bokundara, Piliyandala. This incident was reported from O.P., Boralesgamuwa.

Perera Mawatha, when police officers attempted to apprehend two suspects who were fleeing after an attack on a house located there. Police say that a group of four individuals, armed with sharp weapons and arriving on two motorcycles, attacked the residents of the house, caused extensive damage to property, and then fled.

Based on information that the suspects were heading towards Piliyandala, a group of police officers was immediately deployed to Weerasinghe Mawatha, Bokundara. There, two suspects who arrived on a motorcycle, upon seeing the police officers, immediately turned back and attempted to flee. When the police officers tried to stop them, the suspect riding on the back of the motorcycle attacked a police officer with a sharp weapon, causing injuries.

At that moment, the police officer in question acted and shot the suspect. The suspect, who sustained injuries to his waist from the gunshot, fell off the motorcycle. He was immediately taken into police custody, while the other suspect, who was driving the motorcycle, managed to flee the scene. Police revealed that the arrested individual is a 24-year-old youth residing in the Weediyagoda area of Bandaragama.

The suspect injured in the shooting and the police officer injured in the attack are currently receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Colombo South Teaching Hospital. Additionally, it is reported that a young woman injured in the attack on the house in the Boralesgamuwa area is also receiving treatment at the same hospital. The Piliyandala and Boralesgamuwa police have jointly launched an investigation into the incident.
