Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa emphasizes that the current administration is engaging in political revenge by utilizing judicial actions. The former President stated this while responding to several questions raised by journalists after participating in a religious program held in the Mirigama area.




A journalist inquired whether the public accuses the current government of engaging in political revenge under the guise of the judicial process, to which Mahinda Rajapaksa replied, "Indeed, it is political revenge that they are carrying out. Well, that's what they usually do."

Amidst a backdrop of ongoing lawsuits against several members of the Rajapaksa family, journalists here questioned whether Basil Rajapaksa is expected to return to the island soon, and the former President stated that he does not know the exact date of his return. Commenting on this, he said, "He will come. But you have to ask him for the date of his arrival. We don't know the day he left, nor do we know the day he will return."




Commenting on future political activities and alliances, the former President highlighted the importance of opposition groups working together. He stated, "The opposition is uniting in various places. If they work together, the opposition can gain some power. Everyone must definitely strive to unite for the upcoming election."
