Indian railway authorities have taken strict action against a newlywed couple who specially decorated a general compartment of an Indian train for their honeymoon, and against the railway employee who allowed it. A first-class air-conditioned compartment of the Nandigram Express, which ran from Jalna in Maharashtra state to Mumbai, was decorated for their honeymoon.

A video related to this incident, which occurred on July 06, 2026, is currently circulating rapidly across the internet.

With the help of an event stylist contacted by the couple online, the compartment had been decorated with flowers, balloons, light bulbs, and a poster expressing love. However, as this was an unauthorized act, railway officials acted before the couple boarded the train, blocking the compartment and taking steps to remove all decorations. As a result, the start of their honeymoon was unexpectedly unsuccessful.

South Central Railway authorities have taken steps to suspend the travelling ticket examiner who was working at Jalna railway station for allowing this unauthorized act. The Indian Railway Department stated in a post on its 'X' account that the entry of the decorator into the train compartment is considered a serious security lapse. Furthermore, authorities emphasized that a special departmental inquiry has been initiated regarding this incident, and further action will be taken based on its results.

Normally, for honeymooning couples, Indian Railways has introduced separate luxury train services such as Maharajas' Express, Palace on Wheels, The Deccan Odyssey, and the Golden Chariot. Traveling from Delhi to Jaipur, Ranthambore, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra, Khajuraho, and Varanasi via the Maharajas' Express, considered the most luxurious train in the world, costs nearly 2 million Indian Rupees (77,000 Dirhams). Fares for other luxury trains range from 260,000 to 2 million Rupees, and it appears the couple faced this problem due to either their unawareness of these services or an attempt to plan their trip at a lower cost.
